The Pharmaceutical Factory

FUE Educational Factory

FFIT is an Educational Pharmaceutical Factory aiming to provide the pharmaceutical community with highly qualified and well-trained graduates through conducting both curricular and extracurricular courses in the field of industrial pharmacy. The factory also contains research units equipped with high quality instruments and machines to support postgraduate students to proceed in their research easily and efficiently.

Factory Structure :

The factory is composed of 12 rooms that serve as:
  • Three postgraduate research labs (one Nano-spray dryer lab, two fully equipped research labs that serve the postgraduate studies in the fields of pharmaceutical technology and pharmaceutical chemistry)
  • Room for tablet compression and capsule filling machines.
  • Room for liquid and semisolid filing machine.
  • Student lab for conducting undergraduate’s practical sessions and summer course training.
  • Lecture room.
  • Two raw materials storage rooms.
  • Room for packaging and storage of promotional products.
  • Office room.
  • Lockers room.

Curricular Activities:
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance Course (PHT 529): Experiential Education:
    • Simulation of different types of tablet manufacturing techniques and quality control of solid dosage forms.
  • Student Graduation Projects (PGP617):
    • Participation in supervising the practical and theoretical part of some student graduation projects in cooperation with Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology.

    Summer Training courses are held to help students understand and practice art of formulation and small-scale manufacture of cosmetic products in a hybrid manner (online-incampus). The following products are studied:

  • Community Activities and Promotional Campaigns:
    • Newcomers welcome campaigns: Promotional products were prepared and distributed as free samples to the newcomers.
    • Future International Conferences on Pharmaceutical Sciences: Promotional products are prepared and distributed as free samples to the attendees.
    • Employment fair: Promotional products are prepared and distributed as free samples to the guests.
    • Student Admission: Promotional products are prepared and distributed as free samples to the students and their companions.
    • Different Social Events in campus and outside FUE: Promotional products are prepared and distributed as free samples in the different social occasions inside or outside FUE as Council of University Presidents, Edugate conference, Youth Welfare Department and the different social and medical campaigns organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy and the University.
  • COVID-19 Management:
    • The Future Factory for Industrial Training has played an important role in the infection control of the pandemic COVID 19 serving both the internal and external communities during COVID-19 pandemic. FFIT supplied the FUE whole campus with liters of hand sanitizing gel for domestic use inside the different faculties of the FUE campus as well as hand sanitizing gel promotional packages distributed to employees among the different departments as well as to visitors from outside the FUE community. Additionally, WHO-recommended Hand Rub and Surface sanitizer were prepared and disseminated to FUEians. Moreover, FFIT supplied 70% alcohol for gates sanitizations and 3% hydrogen peroxide solution for domestic surface sanitization.

    • Fulfillment of all required documents and procedures for passing the External Audit for transformation to the 2015 ISO versions and the re-accreditation of the certificates of:
      • ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality Management Systems.
      • ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental Management Systems.
      • ISO 45001: 2018 – Occupational Health and Safety.
